The exhibition is the central part of the VCFe. A collection of some of these wonderful and secret devices, that changed the world during the last 20 years - and carved our memories.

Who can't feel again the intrigue and miracle that took our imagination hostage, spellbound to stay up all night in front of a CRT, high jacked into a world nobody else could see, lightyears away, sophisticated without any connection to known reality and incredibly simple and logical at the same time.

Open Source Hardware - PC532

Der PC 532 ist wahrscheinlich der bestdokumentierte Computer der Welt. Open Source Hardware, noch bevor es den Begriff gab.

Unix, das Textadventure

Gezeigt wird eine Sammlung älterer Sun-Hardware (SPARCstations und SPARCserver). Während des VCFE haben wir vor, den Besuchern darauf ein MUD anzubieten. Es soll dazu auch einen oder zwei Arbeitsplätze geben, worüber man sich in das MUD einloggen kann. Außerdem stellen wir die Netzinfrastruktur für das VCFE 13.0 in einem klassischen Core-Edge-Design. Als Core-Switch verwenden wir dazu einen Cisco Catalyst 6000 mit 100 MBit Ethernet und 155 MBit ATM-Backbone. Als Edge-Devices kommt eine bunte Sammlung 100MBit-Switches von 3Com, Nortel und Cisco zum Einsatz.

Im Rahmen dieser Ausstellung wird auf Basis der im Internet verfügbaren Anleitungen ein Kabel zum Anschluss der Diskettenstation des C64 an den PC gebaut und Daten zwischen PC und C64 ausgetauscht.
